We’ve been to Paris on a number of accasions but usually in June or October, in the year this photo was taken, we went in July.
Each year they dump sand along the sides of the river Sienne and turn it into a beach for the summer. They add deck chairs, palm trees, beach games, and a huge swimming pool, and that’s just for starters. Everyone takes their beach clothes out of the closet and holidays on the sand, reading books and topping up their tans, or simply just building sand castles.
The year we saw Paris beach it was seasonally warm and they had attached huge sprinklers high up on one wall for people to walk through the spray and splash about in the puddles underneath. They had rows of table football games and specially raised areas to play boules on.
I have pack of boules in a small green bag, they’re very heavy, at the moment they are wrapped in a piece of black material and squashed into a gap behind the settee to stop Rabbitt going behind there. I don’t remember how to play the game, I’ll have to get them out again this summer and re-learn the rules.
More from before: “Paris” … and not just in the springtime.
