Vous et ici

          You are here …

39. Vous et ici.

How often have you read this on a map and breathed a sigh of relief ?  Well, I have to admit, I was really pleased to see it on the static map at the entrance to the Citadel Park.  You might remember in the post “Camera lies” that we had got lost in outer Lille (although I believe the official comment is “we weren’t lost, we just didn’t know where we were”).  We were on our way to the Citadel park when we did and it was very nice to arrive.

The Citadel itself is still military so you can’t go in, but the park outside is wonderful, I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with a visit.  There’s a lot more information to be found online if anyone’s interested but we went to enjoy the park itself on the one day we were forecast some sunshine, and mother nature played her part well for us.

There are plenty more pictures to come from the park but for now, here are two views as we arrived at the entrance, looking left and right along the encircling canal.

  1. Like you, I always appreciate a “you are here” sticker — so long as it’s on the right spot. 🙂 Lovely photos of the canal. I’m very intrigued by Lille and look forward to seeing more of it through your eyes!

    • 😀 The sticker was behind the glass so pretty trustworthy, I can imagine how annoying it would have been if someone had moved it !
I’ve just about finished editing the Lille photos ready for the “big back-up” which I do at the beginning of each year and there’s still lots to show. I hope you enjoy them as they fliter through. 🙂
