Hubby’s found a new sporting interest.  He’s been training hard to lengthen the distance he can run, his general practice length is about 5K at the moment and last weekend he entered his first event.

This isn’t any ordinary run though, imagine an army assault course, with the obstacles spread over the full distance where you run from one to the next, imagine 32 obstacles spread out over 5K and you have a pretty good idea of what the run was all about.

Some of the obstacles were smaller, testing your balance and endurance, others were huge and tested your bravery (or stupidity).  Some you had to swim and other’s you had to wade, there were obstacles to climb over, under or through.

Oh, and one more thing, one very important ingredient to the whole event … MUD !

This was his first event and I went along in a supportive role, there were lots of people running in teams but I’m afraid I’m not brave (or stupid) enough to join him in this new hobby though, especially since I’ve seen the lumps, bumps and bruises appearing since the weekend.  I have to admit to feeling just a tiny bit envious and in what seems like another life, a few hundred years ago I would have joined in but now I don’t think my body is up to it.

I’ll just have to settle for spectating, and of course taking pictures of the mud, and the mayhem which goes along with it.  Watch out for more pictures in the future.

    • Sorry, missed this comment when you left it…
I was exhausted trying to dodge between obstacles to catch the photos, it was much easier on the last race with Eldest Daughter and a second camera. 🙂
