Squirrel play

2015-10. Squirrel.

“Feeding Squirrels” at Cosmeston, we started off gently throwing a nut or two to the braver squirrels who came to see what was on offer.  At first they picked the nuts up and scurried back to the safety of the trees to enjoy them.  Slowly but surely, as confidence increased they stayed around longer, eventually taking the nuts from between our fingers.

2015-10. Little Sister & Squirrel.

If the feeder held on tightly to the nut, the squirrels stood still for that couple of seconds needed for the camera to catch them with clarity.   Little Sister’s orange is pink.

2015-10. Squirrel & Little Sisster.

This cheeky little critter found our supply of nuts in a bag on the table and unlike his friend sitting on a low branch in the near distance,  he settled himself on the table and helped himself.

2015-10. Shy friend.

It was wonderful to see how trusting these little furballs were of us. Nature and nurture in harmony.

2015-10. Close up.

More from before : “Cosmeston” with cameras.

    • Mostly grey squirrels now, they’re bigger and stronger… evolution and all that stuff, but there are a few havens of the red squirrels left, and yes I completely agree… Super cute. 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
