Brugge Liquid Sunshine

Saturday afternoon we got pretty soggy in and out of the shops but I did manage to take a few photos.

The dad was oblivious to his daughter’s struggles with her misbehaving umbrella, although from the look of his brolly he’d already fought a few  battles of his own …

I felt so sorry for these poor boat-trippers as they provided me with a brolly picture.

Pretty pavements again, this time with raindrops in a puddle …

And from the shelter of a doorway to a nice dry Irish pub with a roaring coal fire and a very welcoming evening meal, I snapped these …

Super Market

The actual supermarkets in Brugge were surprisingly bad but when Saturday arrived and we went to the actual market the reason why was obvious.  The market sold everything you could possibly need – at a fraction of the price of the supermarkets.

Two of the stalls caught most of my camera’s eye, the flower stall …

Where I couldn’t resist a picture of the sunflowers …

And I spent ages at the next stall …

You don’t need much of an imagination to see why, boxes and crates of tiny furry friends, most open-topped for you to touch and feel.

And the freshest eggs you could imagine, taken straight from underneath the chickens and into your egg box to take home …

We had a good hour or so before the unwelcome forecasted weather arrived.  The wind picked up and the rain came down so we headed back to the holiday apartment for lunch and brollies before we set out to scour the little shops for pressies to take back home.

I have a good few more pictures from the animal stall but I’ll save them for when the weather turns wet and windy again here and we all need a little more help to smile 🙂

Evening Stroll

This is what Brugge is all about, just relaxing and enjoying the sights … is it any wonder I took so many photos ?

          The traffic ….
